Former Fellow Rebecca Vallas (‘09) wrote an article for Rewire.News about the Trump administration's proposal to slash funds from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — commonly referred to as food stamps — that would strip more than 3 million people of food assistance (“Trump’s Newest Plan for SNAP Would Trap Workers in Poverty,” July 29). She describes how the cut is a “blueprint for trapping workers and families and poverty” as well as a “backdoor attack on the school lunch program,” as kids in SNAP-eligible households automatically receive free school meals.
