Vail Kohnert-Yount (’20), Staff Attorney with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, coauthored an opinion for the Austin American-Statesman supporting recently enacted Texas law strengthening protections against sexual harassment to include small employers and expand the statute of limitations for filing complaints at the state level (“Opinion: New Law Is an Important Step toward Curbing Sexual Harassment,” Sept. 5). “Sexual harassment is unacceptable behavior that puts the physical, mental and financial well-being of survivors and their families at risk. Small employers should be as accountable as any other employer. By holding all employers in Texas to the same standard and giving workers more time to file a state complaint, we hope the new protections empower Texans to ensure that sexual harassment in the workplace should never be tolerated.”
