Rose Goldberg (’16), California Deputy Attorney General and Lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, contributed an opinion to the San Francisco Chronicle discussing efforts to stop sexual assault in the military and how the Supreme Court’s ruling in Feres vs. United States promotes abuses of power, including sexual assault by superiors (“Decades of Sexual Assault in the Military Has Gone Unpunished Thanks to This One Law,” Nov. 11). “Nothing will give my former clients their service back, nor repair the damage caused to countless victims of decades of unchecked sexual assault and misconduct in the military. But courts can help end this longest war. By throwing out Feres and opening the courthouse doors to accountability, they can prevent sexual assault from happening in the first place.”
