Larisa Zehr (’20), current Fellow with Legal Aid Justice Center, was quoted in a Fairfax County Times article discussing a recent effort by residents of the Harmony Place mobile home community urging health officials to address dangerous and unsanitary living conditions prior to the property’s sale (“Trailer Park in Need of Makeover, Residents Ask Government for Assistance,” Dec. 30). “Unhealthy, dangerous, and inhumane living conditions can drive low-income residents out of low-cost housing, break up communities, and keep families in constant housing insecurity. Preserving affordable housing means more than just protecting it from development pressures. It is crucial that the new owners of Harmony Place take residents’ concerns seriously and take steps to address them.”
