Paul Sonn (’94), State Policy Program Director at the National Employment Law Project, was quoted in a New York Times article examining some of the notable reversals former President Trump has made since his time in the White House, including policy changes concerning TikTok, cryptocurrency and tipping (“From Tips to TikTok, Trump Swaps Policies with Aim to Please Voters,” Aug. 8). When asked about the shift on tips, Paul said, “Trump is posing as a champion of tipped restaurant workers with his no-tax-on-tips proposal, but his actual record has been to slash protections for tipped workers at a time when they were struggling with a high cost of living.”
